The CRB Coordinator position is part-time, however there is potential to be full-time with additional responsibilities and provides supervision, support and training to CRB volunteers in the Citizen Review Board (CRB) program. In addition, the CRB Coordinator requests cases and schedules hearings for the program. The hours are between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility and based on the needs of the program.
Success in the role is measured on:
- Communication with and support of volunteers
- Retention of volunteers
- Communication with the program staff as well as the foster care contractor and Judge
- Communication with the executive director
- Timely distribution of hearing notices and recommendations
- Program outcomes as defined by Office of Judicial Administration for CRB
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pre-service training for CRB volunteers as well as in-service training
- Supervise and support CRB volunteers in their role as CRB Board Member, according to the policies of CASA of Shawnee County, Inc.
- Regular contact with the CINC Judge to determine appropriate cases to request
- Schedule CRB hearings in coordination with the (CINC) Juvenile Judge
- Facilitate all necessary correspondence regarding hearings
- Prepare and maintain files according to CRB standards
- Network with collaborating agencies to maintain communication
- Keep documentation, data on current cases, and maintain the files on the cases
- Research the information on each case prior to the hearing for the CRB Board Members to review
- Attend court hearings and trials as necessary for CRB cases or potential cases
- Data entry to maintain statistics for the CRB program including data forms for each case
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, screening, training and recognition as necessary
- Assist with statistics for grant reporting as necessary
- Complete monthly program reports
- Maintain current information about updates in the field of child welfare
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge or Experience:
- Understanding of the foster care system, Department of Children and Families, court, or Citizen Review Board
- Ability to communicate concisely and clearly in writing
- Familiar with data entry
- Volunteer or staff management
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Organized and can take initiative
- Understanding of general court process
- Pass a background check and have transportation with liability insurance
Education / Certifications:
- Social work degree or similar and/or work experience in the child welfare field is preferred
Level of Managerial Experience (People) Required
- Managerial experience preferred
Travel Requirements
- In City travel – foster care contractor or other child welfare agency meetings
- Infrequent out of City travel for staff development or visits with children as needed
Decision Making
- Case decisions, volunteer supervision and problem solving with other agencies. Input on program design.
